Agents of SHIELD Fan Favorite Rumored for MCU Return

Marvel Studios may finally be ready to make Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon.

According to trusted scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X, Chloe Bennet will be returning to the MCU in a future project. The scooper made the announcement by resharing a post featuring several images of Bennet from the ABC superhero drama series and adding the following caption: “She’s coming back.”

Who does Chloe Bennet play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Bennet portrayed Daisy “Skye” Johnson/Quake, an Inhuman superhero in all seven seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which aired on ABC from 2013 to 2020. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. marks the only MCU appearance of Bennet as Quake, the actor has voiced the character in several animated films, shorts, and specials set in the Marvel Rising franchise, which centers around the Secret Warriors.

While early marketing for the MCU centered around the tagline, “It’s All Connected,” that wasn’t exactly true, as only the small screen properties alluded to events that had taken place in the movies, with the big screen never once mentioning characters or events that happened on the TV shows. With S.H.I.E.L.D. eventually phasing out cameos from MCU movie characters like Nick Fury and Lady Sif, the connectivity between the show and the movies continued to be downplayed, with Thanos receiving only a passing mention in the fifth season.

However, with Marvel Studios officially recognizing Netflix’s Defenders Saga as taking place on the MCU’s sacred timeline, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans are holding out hope that the ABC drama series will one day receive the same acknowledgment. Brad Winderbaum, Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation at Marvel Studios, has come the closest to confirming the show’s MCU canon status, stating in August 2024 that he believes the show “does feel like it fits into The Multiverse Saga in an incredible way.”

All seven seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are streaming on Disney+.
