Marvel’s Thunderbolts* is generating fresh attention after a new behind-the-scenes clip revealed Lewis Pullman’s Sentry costume. The film, which introduced the character in live-action for the first time, shows Pullman’s transformation as the powerful yet unstable hero within the MCU.

Pullman wears the Sentry outfit in only a few scenes, but those moments mark the start of his character’s transformation. In the film, Val’s assistant Mel activates a kill switch meant to neutralize him, but it triggers Sentry’s takeover by his dark alter ego, The Void.
Thunderbolts* opened on May 3, 2025, and grossed $76 million domestically and $86.1 million internationally, reaching a global opening total of $162.1 million (via Deadline). Marvel Studios released the film in 4,330 theaters, where it claimed the No. 1 spot in nearly every major international market. China ($10.4M), the UK ($7.7M), and Mexico ($7.3M) led the international earnings.
The film outperformed comparable MCU titles in multiple regions, earning 45% more than Shang-Chi, 13% more than Ant-Man, and 7% more than Guardians of the Galaxy in like-for-like markets. IMAX screenings generated $8.6 million of the domestic gross, while premium formats accounted for 39% of ticket sales.
Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus lead the ensemble cast. Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, and Wendell Edward Pierce join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as newcomers. Jake Schreier is the director of the film, while Kevin Feige serves as producer.
Son Lux, the Oscar-nominated band behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, composed the score. Thunderbolts* currently holds an 88% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes from 259 reviews.
