Industry insiders claim that the release date has reportedly been set for Black Panther 3, the much-anticipated third installment in the Black Panther movie series, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The speculations began circulating when Marvel announced several members of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.
Black Panther 3 release date rumored for February 2028
Recently, movie and TV scooper Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK) took to X (formerly Twitter) to write the following message: “Feb 2028.” The cryptic post was shared while the MCU fandom was abuzz due to the Avengers: Doomsday official announcements. Richtman subsequently added in the comment section of the post, “IDK [I don’t know] if that’s the news, probably not. If it’s not I’ll explain what this is.” The insider eventually clarified, “The date is for Black Panther 3.”
Notably, Black Panther came out in 2018, with Chadwick Boseman portraying T’Challa / Black Panther. Boseman died on August 28, 2020, due to complications related to colon cancer at the age of 43. In 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, T’Challa’s sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) becomes the new Black Panther. M’Baku (Winston Duke) takes on the role of the new king of Wakanda. Further, the movie’s mid-credits scene shows that T’Challa fathered a son with Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) before his death. The young boy’s name is also T’Challa, though he is known by most as Toussaint.
The above-mentioned announcement confirmed that Wright and Duke would be part of the Doomsday cast, along with Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who played Namor in Wakanda Forever. If the February 2028 release date is accurate, it’s possible that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will serve as the narrative launchpad for the project.
Black Panther 3 was confirmed by studio boss Kevin Feige and other studio executives after Denzel Washington revealed that he was part of its cast in late 2024. Nate Moore, who served as a producer on Captain America: Brave New World, stated in a February 2025 interview with ComicBook.com that the studio didn’t have any conversations about the project with Ryan Coogler, who made the first two movies. However, they intended to “get into it later this year.” Accordingly, the February 2028 release date for Black Panther 3 is a plausible one.
