Star Wars: The High Republic Introduces a Force-Sensitive Monster Hunter

A month from now, the first phase of the Star Wars: The High Republic project will officially begin. The mega-crossover event will start as soon as the upcoming The High Republic: Light of the Jedi novel will hit the stores. But the book by Charles Soule is just the first in a long series that includes a second adult novel by Cavan Scott, Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm.

The Rising Storm sees the Nihil taking their reign of terror to the next level, building on their appearances in Light of the Jedi and beyond,” Scott said to StarWars.com. “Standing in their way this time are newly elevated Jedi Council member Stellan Gios, along with Padawan Bell Zettifar and an intriguing new character, the saber-for-hire Ty Yorrick who I’ve had a blast creating.”

The Nihil is a group of space-pirates that are terrorizing the Star Wars Universe before the Jedi intervene to put them back in their place. You can check the cover art for Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm below.

In the same interview, the author hinted at the intriguing backstory for one of the main protagonists.

“Yorrick is a Force-sensitive monster hunter with a mysterious past. What is that past? Well, that would be telling,” Scott added. “All I’d say is that you don’t want to get in her way, as Stellan and the others soon realize for themselves.”

(Are we the only ones who are getting a Geralt of Rivia-esque vibe here?)

Star Wars: The High Republic: The Rising Storm will hit the stores on July 6, 2021.
