The new series of adventures of the alums of The Umbrella Academy has finally gotten an official debut date. Netflix just revealed an announcement video featuring the cast reenacting the popular dance scene from Season 1. Since we are living in COVID-19 times, though, every actor shot his or her part alone and not together with the others. The final result is a funny video that announces The Umbrella Academy‘s sophomore season will premiere on July 31. Netflix’s show is one of the few that managed to eke out full seasons before the pandemic took over. The show started production on its sophomore season last summer and wrapped filming in November.

The official synopsis of The Umbrella Academy reads:
“On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. Now, the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father’s passing and must work together to solve a mystery surrounding his death. But the estranged family begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.”
The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book series created and written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics. Universal Content Productions produces the show for Netflix. Steve Blackman serves as executive producer and showrunner, and additional EPs are Jeff F. King, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, as well as Gerard Way, and Gabriel Bá.
