If you are among those fans who like to expand and create their own stories about Star Wars characters in headcanon narratives, you are in good company. It turns out that Star Wars’ Kelly Marie Tran shares that tendency. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actress revealed that she is very nerdy about Star Wars in particular, as she likes to expand the characters’ background story. Even if they do not always turn out as expected.
“I definitely feel I do a lot of background work in terms of also sort of creating these narratives in our heads, totally headcanon,” she added. “It’s funny because when they were talking about me doing the audiobook, I was like ‘Oh yeah, I made up all these stories,’ and then I read the notes on the audiobook. Totally not what I’ve made up.”
Tran is referring to the Cobalt Squadron audiobook, which was released back in 2017. The story is set prior to The Last Jedi and sees Tran’s Rose Tico as the protagonist.

Speaking about the Resistance mechanic, the actress then hinted that Rose may have gotten a promotion in the upcoming movie.
“It’s pretty clear that she is sort of moved into a different position within the Resistance,” Tran said. “I’m excited for people to kind of see more what that means. She’s definitely in a different space, in a good way.”
