Marvel Unveils the Creative Team for the Relaunched Star Wars Comic

Next month, Marvel’s ongoing Star Wars series will come to an end with issue #75. It will receive a proper conclusion with December’s Empire Ascendant one-shot. But fortunately, this won’t be the last we see of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo in print. Marvel has just announced that they will relaunch the title in January with an all-new creative team.

Writer Charles Soule and artist Jesus Saiz are ushering the Star Wars series into brand new era. Wheras the book’s initial run bridged the gap between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, the upcoming relaunch is set between Empire and Return of the Jedi. Soule is no stranger to the Star Wars universe. He and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli recently concluded their Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith series after 25 issues. Meanwhile, Saiz is known for collaborating with writer Mark Waid on Doctor Strange. The first issue features a cover by R.B. Silva, who is currently garnering acclaim for his work on Marvel’s Powers of X series.

Soule and Saiz will most likely show Luke coping with the realization that Darth Vader is his long-lost father. It’s also a safe bet that we’ll see the heroes plotting the rescue of Han Solo after he was frozen in carbonite and sold to Jabba the Hutt. Of course, the group will face a plethora of new challenges along the way. According to the book’s official description, they will cross paths with a new enemy named Commander Zahra, who leads the Imperial vessel known as the Tarkin’s Will.
