Logan’s Run at Warner Bros. with Dark Phoenix Director Simon Kinberg

Warner Bros. sets Logan’s Run remake with director Simon Kinberg

Warner Bros. Pictures has set up a remake of Logan’s Run with X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg and Hunger Games writer Peter Craig, according to Deadline. As speculated earlier, it appears that this version of Logan’s Run will feature a woman in the lead role.

There have been numerous attempts at remaking the classic film before, previously with BioShock creator Ken Levine penning a draft and before that with Ryan Gosling and his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn developing a take on the material. Other drafts of the film were written by Alex Garland (Ex MachinaTomb Raider), Will Beal (Gangster Squad), and Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation). As recently as 2016, Colony writer and co-creator Ryan Condal (who just booked a writing gig for the Highlander remake) was on the project. At that time, Kinberg was on the project as a producer.

The 1976 original Logan’s Run starred Michael York, Jenny Agutter and Farrah Fawcett. It was based on a 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson. The premise sees a future society that demands the death of everyone upon reaching a certain age. Anyone who veers from that destiny is dubbed a “runner” and is hunted by operatives known as Sandmen. Logan is a Sandman who is forced to go on the run.

What do you guys think of Simon Kinberg and Peter Craig taking on the Logan’s Run remake for Warner Bros.? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
