Go behind the scenes of Alien: Convenant with star Katherine Waterston
Domestically, Alien fans will have to wait another week for director Ridley Scott’s own third entry in the sci-fi horror franchise that he launched in 1979. Europe and a few other countries, however, gets to see Covenant a bit earlier with the film opening there this week. Among those is the UK, where CS recently paid a visit to sit down and chat with the film’s cast and crew. Between now and Alien: Covenant‘s domestic release on May 19, we’ll be bringing you behind-the-scenes looks at the new 20th Century Fox film. Today, we’re kicking things off with star Katherine Waterston. In the player below, you can watch as she talks about her earliest meeting with Scott (including a pretty great Ridley Scott impression!) and what it’s like to enter another franchise after making her debut in the Wizarding World in last year’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Alien: Covenant follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. Upon discovering what they think is an uncharted paradise, a team sets out only to experience a kind of horror that helps bridge the gap between Scott’s Prometheus and his original Alien.
Katherine Waterston stars alongside Michael Fassbender, who reprises his Prometheus role as David and also plays a new robot character by the name of Walter. The Alien: Covenant cast also includes Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby, and James Franco.
Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern) provided the Alien: Covenant screenplay.
