The Flash and Supergirl Get a Musical Crossover, Dolph Lundgren Coming to Arrow

Following yesterday’s reveal of the season synopses for The CW‘s DC comics shows, fresh updates on the shows have been announced straight from the final day of TCA.

First up comes the reveal from Greg Berlanti that The Flash and Supergirl will crossover once again (in addition to the already-announced four-way crossover), this time with a little more song and dance: the two episodes will be a musical. The crossover will occur between episodes 13 or 14 in the respective series. The casts for both shows have no shortage of singing talents with stars Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin both having appeared in the musical-themed TV series Glee, while Carlos Valdes starred in the Broadway musical Once and Jesse L. Martin originated the role of Tom Collins in the hit musical Rent.

In further The Flash and Supergirl news, the new speedster villain for The Flash was revealed to be Savitar while Supergirl will be bringing in Miss Martian and Mon-El, to be played by Sharon Leal and Chris Wood, respectively. In addition, director Kevin Smith has been confirmed to direct at least one episode of both shows.

On the Arrow side of things, it was announced that action movie legend Dolph Lundgren will try and break Oliver Queen, joining the series for its Russia-set flashback sequences this season. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim also confirmed that this will be the final season of flashbacks on the series.

As for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, it was announced that character actor Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Millennium) will take on the role of Obsidian for the series. In the comics, Obsidian was introduced as the son of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, who possesses the capability to become a powerful shadow.

All four of the shows are set to premiere this October, beginning with The Flash on Tuesday, October 4, then Arrow on Wednesday, October 5th, Supergirl on Monday, October 10th, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on Thursday, October 13th.
