Back in December, it was confirmed that Italia Ricci would join the cast of Supergirl as Silver Banshee and now The CW has revealed (via ET) the first look at the super villain which you can check out below!
The original version of the character was created by John Byrne in Action Comics #595 and was an actual Banshee from Irish mythology, complete with the ability to fly and a “death wail” capable of killing. Supergirl‘s version of the character appears to be inspired by the New 52 version who actually befriended Supergirl in the pages of DC Comics.
Ricci will make her debut in the series as Siobhan Smythe, before becoming the villain, on the Monday, February 22 episode. Titled “Truth, Justice and the American Way,” the episode is officially described as follows:
“Supergirl does battle with the deadly Master Jailer (Jeff Branson), who is hunting and executing escaped Fort Rozz prisoners. Also, Cat hires a second assistant, Siobhan Smythe (Italia Ricci), who immediately tries to one-up Kara, and Kara and James disagree over the DEO’s methods.”
Melissa Benoist leads the cast of Supergirl as the title character alongside Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lucy Lane (sister of Lois), David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord, with Dean Cain and Helen Slater.
Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 PM ET on CBS. If you missed an episode of Supergirl, or just need a refresher, be sure to check out our weekly recaps by clicking here.
