We’re still four years away from the release of Shazam, but that isn’t stopping Dwayne Johnson from talking about his role of Black Adam in the film. Though Adam has been an arch-enemy of Shazam in the source material for a number of years, the character has taken on more of an “anti-hero” role in recent years which Johnson says will translate into his performance in the film. Speaking on Twitter, Johnson had this to say about it:
Can’t wait to play BLACK ADAM. We’ll find that anti-hero balance of ruthless rip your throat out w/ wonderful charm.. #ROCKTALK @Dosteguin

Jack the Giant Slayer scribe Darren Lemke is currently penning the script for Shazam, which is set to be released April 5, 2019, just a month before Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Part II. The film tells the story of teenaged Billy Batson, who transforms into the superhero when he says the magic word “Shazam!”
