Legendary and Warner Bros. have dropped some monster-sized news this morning: Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla sequel has a release date! The King of Monsters will be back on the big screen June 8, 2018 and, according to Legendary’s recent Comic-Con panel, he’ll be bringing a few friends. (Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah were all listed in the teaser trailer presented during the panel as potential future foes).
Edwards will first travel to a galaxy far, far away, however, as he’s set to helm the first stand-alone entry in the Star Wars franchise. That film is set for release on December 16, 2016.
The Godzilla sequel is the first film to claim that June 8, 2018 date.
