The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the Image Comics series Zero, the brainchild of writer Ales Kot, is in development as a television series with Kot writing the pilot episode.
“The TV series is not the same as the comic,” Kot said. “But it has a very similar high-strung energy, an interest in many of the same themes and an atmosphere that lies at the intersection of a stylized, adrenaline-heavy action thriller and an existential spy horror. It’s an exploration of the secret superagent archetype, of American dreams and of American dread — an examination of privacy, security, freedom and what we do for them.”
Zero, which debuted last September and has a different artist on each issue, is officially described as follows:
Edward Zero is the perfect execution machine – a spy who breaks the rules to get things done. When a stolen device appears in the center of a long-running conflict, Zero comes to retrieve it. The problem is, the device is inside a living, breathing, bio-modified terrorist and there’s an entire army after it.
