MCU star Angourie Rice has spilled the beans on what Betty Brant was up to during the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The character was originally introduced in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as a student at Midtown School of Science and Technology, later returning in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
While Betty Brant was absent from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Rice has a clear theory regarding her character’s whereabouts.
In an interview with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff while promoting her new comedy Finding Emily, Rice broke her silence on Betty’s absence. When asked where her character has been, the actress offered her own take on Betty’s offscreen life. “I don’t know. I guess she’s [laughter] Where do you think she is? I guess I don’t know. She’s probably practicing ethical journalism and, you know, doing it in style.”

Betty Brant has long been a fan-favorite element of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, providing humor as Midtown High’s resident news anchor.
Although she didn’t appear in Brand New Day, Rice believes the character is thriving outside the superhero realm. She added, “I like to think she’s got a good job somewhere and she’s, you know, doing something worthwhile and meaningful.”
Fans hoping to see Betty return to the MCU will have to wait for official updates regarding Spider-Man 5, as Marvel Studios has not confirmed future plans for the character.
As for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the movie sees Tom Holland reprising his iconic role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned.
Other key cast members include Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher. Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III also play crucial roles.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters.
