Avengers: Doomsday star Sebastian Stan has opened up about shooting the film without reading the entire script. The actor shared this behind-the-scene fact while promoting his latest movie, Fjord.
In a recent interview with Le Journal du dimanche, Stan reflected on balancing independent cinema with Marvel blockbusters. When asked about Avengers: Doomsday, the actor revealed, “Honestly, I have absolutely no idea. Because we didn’t have a script.”
Stan shared that he and his castmates shot “scattered scenes” from the upcoming installment. “It’s a different way of working, continuous, constantly evolving,” he said, adding that they were not allowed to read the entire script.
“The producers didn’t want us to read it in its entirety, to avoid journalists asking us questions,” Stan shared with a chuckle. “I’ve been following this rule for fifteen years; I’m used to it.”
Stan further teased, “I also can’t say anything about The Batman: Part II, by Matt Reeves, where I play Harvey Dent.”
Who is joining Sebastian Stan in Avengers: Doomsday?
Avengers: Doomsday brings together major factions across the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an epic crossover, uniting members of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Wakandans, the New Avengers, and legacy X-Men characters.
Sebastian Stan reprises his role as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, alongside his fellow Avengers stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, and Anthony Mackie. Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland are also expected to appear.
MCU’s Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn will also appear. Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU as Victor von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, the main villain of the movie.
The original X-Men cast, including Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer, and Rebecca Romijn, are also returning. The movie also features the Thunderbolts* cast: Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, and Hannah John-Kamen.
Black Panther stars Letitia Wright and Winston Duke round out the core cast alongside Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, Hayley Atwell, and Mabel Cadena.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters worldwide on December 18, 2026.
