Evil Dead’s Ash Williams Is Back But Not How You Expected

Ash Williams has fought an awful lot of undead baddies since the first Evil Dead film. His adventures have spanned multiple media, including video games, streaming series, and comic books. However, the king of the Deadite slayers may face his weirdest challenge to date in a new comic book series.

Evil Dead’s Ash Williams Is Back But Now How You Expected

Ash and the Evil Dead are no stranger to comic book crossovers. The S-Mart employee has forged many unlikely partnerships, including team-ups with Xena, Vampirella, and Red Sonja. Ash has also faced off against fellow horror icons Jason Vorhees and Freddy Krueger. And yet, his latest adventure may be the most unlikely pairing of two franchises ever.

What is the new Evil Dead crossover?

Dynamite Entertainment announced, in a joint press release with Archie Comics, that Ash Williams is coming to Riverdale. The little town has dealt with numerous unexpected guests and magical threats before. However, they are completely unprepared when the Evil Dead and Necronomicon invade. Luckily, the King will be on hand with his boomstick to save Archie and the gang… or die trying.

“Ash Williams has seen it all: demonic forces, time travel, monstrous doppelgänger,” noted Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante. “But Ash might be in for his toughest battle yet: fighting a horde of Deadites alongside a group of teenagers! Thankfully, Archie and his friends are no strangers to the undead. And we couldn’t be more excited for everyone to see what madness will ensue!”

“It’s always a blast to collaborate with other titans of the industry,” said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher. “We’re excited to be back in business with Archie and the whole Riverdale crew, cooking up some exciting stories and more for fans. Leading off with the franchise that started it all for us at Dynamite was the perfect choice.”
