Universal Pictures has released the first poster for The Odyssey, the upcoming epic film from Oscar winner Christopher Nolan.
What does The Odyssey’s poster show?
The poster leans into Greek mythology with a sculpture at the bottom. The tagline reads, “Defy the Gods,” which sits above the 2026 release date. The top of the poster features the title with “A Film by Christopher Nolan” directly above it.

Note that this is a different poster than the one that leaked the other day. That poster also had a line about the IMAX cameras.
Speaking of leaks, the first teaser trailer for The Odyssey has been unofficially released online. This teaser is real and will be attached to screenings of Jurassic World Rebirth, another Universal property.
The 70-second teaser features a brief shot of Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as his son, Telemachus, and Jon Bernthal’s character. Telemachus asks Bernthal’s character about his father’s location. The final image is of someone, likely Odysseus, floating on a piece of wood in the water.
The Odyssey’s large ensemble includes Damon, Holland, Bernthal, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Nick E. Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, Michael Valais, Iddo Goldberg, Josh Stewart, Cosmo Jarvis, and Ryan Hurst.
Nolan writes and directs The Odyssey, based on Homer’s Greek epic. Nolan will produce with his wife and collaborator, Emma Thomas. With a rumored budget of $250 million, The Odyssey would be the most expensive movie of Nolan’s career.
The Odyssey is the highly anticipated follow-up to Oppenheimer, Nolan’s award-winning biopic about theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film won seven Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director.
The Odyssey is still in production. It will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
