A new rumor suggests that a Spider-Man director is working on a new MCU show.
Following the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again, the new Marvel Television show will be Ironheart, which arrives on Disney+ later this month. Eyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, and Wonder Man are all expected to premiere later on in 2025, while other titles like Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Vision Quest, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2, X-Men ’97 Season 2, and more also also in development.
Which Spider-Man director is rumored to be working on a new MCU show?
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton is developing an untitled MCU show. No further details are available at this time, and this news should be taken with a grain of salt at this time as it is merely a rumor that has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios.
It’s no secret, however, that Cretton and Marvel seem to have a good working relationship. Cretton first directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings for the company, which was released in 2021. He was then tapped to direct the fourth film in the Avengers series; although, that was when it was still called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as his involvement was before Jonathan Majors was fired by Marvel.
Cretton ultimately stepped away from Avengers to focus on other projects. His Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Sadie Sink is currently scheduled to be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026. He’s also heavily involved in Wonder Man, which will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams.
There was previously talk that Cretton would additionally helm a sequel to Shang-Chi, though that project seems to have been put on pause for the time being while he works on Spider-Man. Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi character is confirmed to return in Avengers: Doomsday.
