Daniel Radcliffe is reportedly one of the names DC Studios may be considering for the upcoming Clayface movie.
Clayface is a forthcoming DCU movie written by Mike Flanagan that will focus on the titular Batman villain. Releasing in 2026, the film will be directed by Speak No Evil’s James Watkins.
No casting for the DCU movie has yet been announced; however, James Gunn recently revealed that the character won’t be played by Alan Tudyk, who voices Clayface in Creature Commandos.
What do we know about the Daniel Radcliffe Clayface rumor?
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Radcliffe is one name that DC Studios is potentially considering for the Clayface movie. Nothing is official at this time, and Sneider notes to “take Radcliffe’s name with a grain of salt” as this is “just a rumor at this stage, albeit a credible one.”
It’s worth noting that Watkins and Radcliffe have worked together before. Radcliffe played the lead role in 2012’s The Woman in Black, which was directed by Watkins. That movie received generally positive reviews from critics and made around $130 million at the global box office off a relatively small budget. It also spawned a sequel, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, that neither Radcliffe nor Watkins returned for.
While he’s best known for playing Harry Potter, Radcliffe has largely stayed away from major franchises since the release of Death Hallows — Part 2. He did, however, play a villain in 2016’s Now You See Me 2, while his filmography also includes 2013’s Horns, 2016’s Swiss Army Man, 2017’s Jungle, 2019’s Guns Akimbo, 2022’s The Lost City, and 2022’s Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, the latter of which won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie.
Clayface is reportedly looking to have a budget of around $40 million. The film currently has a September 11, 2026, release date.
