The official Disney+ X account has announced that the 2019 superhero sequel will be “swinging onto #DisneyPlus on November 3.” Far From Home’s arrival on the streamer comes several months after Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy, Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man duology, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Venom were made available to Disney+ subscribers.
Spider-Man fights Mysterio in Far From Home
Spider-Man: Far From Home is set several months after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019) following Peter Parker as he attempts to take a few weeks off from being Spider-Man to go on a European summer field trip with his friends. Unfortunately for Peter, Nick Fury comes knocking, drawing the young Avenger into a mission to stop their Earth from being destroyed by the Elementals, later revealed to be one of the many illusions created by Mysterio, the true villain of the 2019 superhero movie.
Tom Holland reprises his role from previous MCU media as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Far From Home, with Jake Gyllenhaal joining the franchise as Quentin Beck/Mysterio. The well-received MCU sequel also stars Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.
Spider-Man: Far From Home broke box office records
Far From Home is notable for being the first Spider-Man film to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office. It was also the highest-grossing Spider-Man film until 2022, when Spider-Man: No Way Home finished its theatrical run with a worldwide box office haul of $1.9 billion.
With Far From Home’s arrival on Disney+, No Way Home will become the only MCU installment not available to stream on the platform. Although, given how many Spider-Man titles have joined Disney+ this year, there is a good chance that No Way Home might eventually find its way onto the streaming service.
Spider-Man: Far From Home releases on Disney+ on Friday, November 3, 2023.
