DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn has revealed some of his favorite Elseworlds storylines from DC Comics.
What are James Gunn’s favorite Elseworlds comics?
When asked through Twitter what his favorite Elseworlds storyline was, Gunn listed a few different series. The director noted that Watchmen is “kinda Elseworlds,” and that he’s a fan of Tom King’s Strange Adventures, Superman: Red Son, Kingdom Come, and The Golden Age.
Elseworlds is a DC imprint that denotes stories in alternate universes, as opposed to the main DC Comics continuity. Some of the most known Elseworlds stories include Superman: Red Son, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, Kingdom Come, and JSA: The Liberty Files.
The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include Superman: Legacy, a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
