Tom Holland’s Peter Parker isn’t the only fan-favorite character returning in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Jon Watts’ upcoming movie will also bring back Alfred Molina’s Dr. Octopus, a.k.a. Doc Ock, a villain whom fans love to hate. Apparently, the Marvel Cinematic Universe kingpin, Kevin Feige himself, stands with those who appreciate the Indiana Jones alum’s work as the web-slinger’s foe. Feige liked it so much that he never thought about recasting the character.
“I remember having discussions with Amy Pascal years ago,” he said while talking with Empire. “‘Do we want to revisit villains we’ve seen before?’ No, let’s do Vulture, and Mysterio, and characters we haven’t brought to the screen before. But I remember thinking, ‘How would you even do Doc Ock again?’, because Alfred Molina is perfect casting. If you ever brought him back, it would have to be him somehow.”

The whys and wherefores of Dr. Octopus’ encounter with the new version of Spider-Man are still to be disclosed. However, the recently released trailer unveiled that the titular hero resorted to asking Doctor Strange to restore his secret identity following the events in Far From Home. The Sorcerer Supreme breaks the multiverse to cause chaos, because spells always carry a cost in the MCU. Director Jon Watts informally calls the new film “Spider-Man: Endgame.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home will swing in theaters on December 17.
