New Venom: Let There Be Carnage Featurette Introduces Shriek

Cletus Kasady isn’t the only one coming to shake up Eddie Brock’s life this weekend. Naomie Harris will also make her Marvel debut as Shriek in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Ahead of the sequel’s premiere on Friday, Sony has released another featurette that gives some backstory for her. You can check it out for yourself below.

The featurette includes commentary from Harris and director Andy Serkis, who warns us that Shriek can be “really dangerous” thanks to her sonic screaming ability. As Harris explains, she does this by sucking up all the sound around her and using it as a weapon.

Shriek has been an inmate at the Ravencroft Institute for 25 years. Additionally, she has an open infatuation with Cletus. And once Cletus bonds with his own symbiote and breaks her out of Ravencroft, Eddie will be left to pick up the pieces and put a stop to their rampage.

Shriek’s impending team-up with Kasady essentially confirms that the film is lifting elements from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage storyline. That crossover event also opened with the titular symbiote breaking out of Ravencroft and taking Shriek along for the ride. However, we can probably rule out an appearance by Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters on October 1.
