Dominique Fishback Cast in Steven Caple Jr.’s Transformers Movie

Steven Caple Jr.’s Transformers movie has found its female lead. According to Deadline, Dominique Fishback will appear opposite Anthony Ramos in Paramount’s next film starring Hasbro’s robots in disguise.

Rumors about Fishback’s involvement with the film began making the rounds earlier this month. When word of Ramos’ casting first broke, Deadline reported that he would soon have screen and chemistry tests with a handful of potential female co-stars. Fishback was one of the top names on this list, as was If Beale Street Could Talk actress Kiki Layne. This latest report claims that Fishback is now in “final negotiations” to join Caple’s movie. Apparently, she and Ramos have been friends for years, and they even worked on a play together during their college days.

Fishback most recently appeared in Judas and the Black Messiah alongside Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya. She previously starred on all three seasons of HBO’s The Deuce. Last month, Fishback also joined the cast of Apple TV+’s The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, based on the novel by Walter Mosley.

Joby Harold, the showrunner behind Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, penned the original draft of the script for Caple’s Transformers movie. However, it sounds like the studio has brought on Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters to rewrite it. Paramount is producing the film with eOne and Hasbro.

Additionally, Deadline has confirmed that Caple’s Transformers film will hit theaters on June 24, 2022. This more or less guarantees that production will begin by the end of the year.
