Jason Bateman Will Direct Superworld Movie

Although Jason Bateman is best known for starring in Arrested Development, Ozark, and The Outsider, he’s increasingly in demand as director. Now, Bateman is going to direct an unusual superhero story.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has picked up the rights for Gus Krieger’s recently released Audible novel, Superworld. Bateman will direct the film adaptation, and reunite with screenwriter Mark Perez (Game Night) on the project.

The novel takes place in a near future where everyone has a superhuman power. However, a man named Ignatius Lohman is seemingly the lone exception. Regardless, Ignatius soon finds himself in the crosshairs of a villain who can neutralize the powers of any superhuman. So far, there’s no indication that Bateman is considering a role in the movie.
