Report: Christian Bale May Be Joining Thor: Love and Thunder

In 2017, Michael Keaton became the first onscreen Batman to make the leap to Marvel in Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, he may not be the only Dark Knight in the MCU. A new report from Collider suggests that Christian Bale is in negotiations for a role in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Marvel Studios didn’t comment on the report, so this is far from confirmed. But if Bale does join the cast, we think he’d be a great choice for Balder the Brave. Bale would also be ideal for a more villainous role. This would be Bale’s first comic book movie since wrapping up The Dark Knight trilogy in 2012. He also had a leading role in 2009’s Terminator Salvation.

Chris Hemsworth will once again reprise his role as Thor for his fourth solo film. Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman will also be back as Valkyrie and Jane Foster, respectively. It’s currently unclear if Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will also make an appearance. However, Taika Waititi will once again direct the upcoming Thor sequel. It’s expected to begin filming later this year, perhaps as soon as this summer.

Thor: Love and Thunder will strike theaters on November 5, 2021.
