Universal Signs Lee Daniels To Direct Stealth Superhero Movie

The director behind Monster’s Ball and Precious is trying out something new for his next film — StealthDeadline has confirmed that Universal has signed on the director to helm the adaptation. It’s based on an upcoming Skybound/Image comic published and produced by The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman. Mike Costa and artists Nate Bellegarde and Tamra Bonvillain are the creative team behind the Stealth comic, which won’t hit stores until March 2020.

Wiithin the comic and movie, the story follows Tony Barber, a reporter in Detroit. While researching a hero who has defended the city for decades, Tony discovers that his hero is actually his father. However, the onset of Alzheimer’s has made Tony’s father reckless and dangerous. But his refusal to step away from his heroic role alienates the city and creates a dangerous situation for Tony.
