Spider-Man: Far From Home Cast Discusses Life After Thanos

Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to conclude with the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Aside from closing the door on this chapter, the new film will also show us how half of humanity is coping with losing five years of their lives as a result of the Decimation. Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo recently confirmed that any Midtown High students who weren’t dusted by Thanos eventually graduated and went to college. But conveniently enough, Peter Parker and his entire core group of classmates fell victim to the snap. So they’ll have to suffer through their awkward teen years a little longer than expected.

While speaking with Fandango, Tom Holland, Zendaya (MJ), and Jacob Batalon (Ned) addressed how their characters are processing their resurrections.

“It kind of puts our characters in a special place,” said Zendaya. “I don’t know, we come back and the world’s kind of changed, and we all kind of have to depend on each other a little bit more because we’re like the oddballs now. And we kind of have to confide in each other with that experience, so that’s cool.”

Zendaya also teased how MJ has changed since the last time we saw her. Apparently, she wan’t be the same aloof bookworm who was introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“I think we kind of get to see why she has that guard and slowly watch her melt a little bit,” continued Zendaya.

Meanwhile, Holland’s Peter Parker is also still reeling from the death of Tony Stark. But as luck would have it, he manages to find a new mentor figure in the form of Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio.

“I mean, it’s very emotional, saying goodbye to him,” said Holland. “And what was quite scary for me is this is obviously the first Spider-Man film I’ve made without Robert. So it was a bit daunting. But that’s why it was nice to have Jake Gyllenhaal come in and play Mysterio in this film because he kind of fills the shoes of Peter’s mentor and he does it really nicely, which is great.”
