Kevin Feige Never Stopped Thinking About Mutants in the MCU

The future is wide open for Marvel Studios. Now that Disney finally has Fox’s entertainment assets, the X-Men can enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe any way that Kevin Feige sees fit.

While speaking with CinemaBlend during the recent premiere for Spider-Man: Far From Home, Feige gave his thoughts on how he would incorporate these mutant characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he didn’t quite reveal his master plan, he did say that the mutants have been on his mind for a long time.

“Yes. And the other secret is that we never stop thinking about it,” explained Feige. “You’re always thinking about things. We’re always sitting in rooms, coming up with cool stories about anything. So we had been thinking about it for years. The fact that they’re back now, the fact that they’re back home or they belong – that Marvel (now) has what DC has, what Harry Potter has, what Star Wars has, which is access to all of their characters. Right? You sort of take for granted that…it’s unusual for a company not to have access to all their characters. And the fact now that we have almost all of them back is pretty nice. It’s pretty amazing.”

Marvel Studios hasn’t said much about its plans for its Phase 4 films. However, Feige has said that Marvel will reveal what’s coming later this summer. Comic-Con and D23 might be the ideal time for Marvel to lay out Phase 4. Feige previously indicated that the X-Men may not appear for a while. But Deadpool might be a different matter.
