Avengers: Endgame Becomes the 8th Highest Grossing Movie of All-Time

No one should be surprised that Avengers: Endgame was an instant box office smash. The only thing to be surprised about is how quickly it’s making money. After only seven days, including foreign markets, Endgame has taken in $1.48 billion. That places it at 8th highest grossing movie of all-time, when calculating worldwide totals.

To put that in perspective, Endgame already passed Black Panther ($1.35 billion) and Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.41 billion). Among Marvel Studios movies, only The Avengers ($1.51 billion) and Avengers: Infinity War ($2.05 million) have made more. At this rate, Endgame will pass The Avengers by some time tomorrow. If Endgame has another strong weekend, Infinity War could follow early next week.

Domestically, Endgame stands at $426.9 million; which means it still has a ways to go before matching the totals of the previous Avengers films. It remains to be seen whether Endgame will have the legs to challenge Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ $936 million record. However, Avatar‘s $2.7 billion worldwide record could be within striking distance if Endgame‘s momentum holds.

Outside of America, Endgame is performing particularly well in China with $389.1 million to date. The rest of the world accounts for roughly $665 million dollars combined. Endgame should easily carry its second weekend, since no major films are scheduled to open against  it. But that will change later in May.
