Toy Story 5 Easter Eggs & Key References You Might Have Missed

Curious to know the Toy Story 5 easter eggs scattered across the storyline? The comedy-adventure movie marks the return of Jessie, Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang. They face the new challenge of electronics, which have driven kids away from their toys. As the movie was packed with references, here’s a list in case you missed any details.

List of all major Toy Story 5 easter eggs and Pixar references

Star Command

The bright star that the Buzz army followed was a nod to his character in Toy Story (1995). At the time, the character believed that he was a space ranger on a journey to Star Command, but later he became aware that he’s just a toy.

Monsters Inc

Another Pixar movie reference made it to the film when Rex, a maid of honor, during the toys’ wedding, gets poisoned. His appearance turns blue with pink spots, an allusion to the character Sully from Monsters, Inc.

Lilypad

The tablet appears to be inspired by devices from real-life company LeapFrog. In the movie, the device was the antagonist, which drove kids’ attention from toys to electronics.

Toy Story 2

When Jessie confronts Lilypad, the tablet showcases her dislike for the doll before displaying information about her. In it, there’s black-and-white clip footage from Woody’s Roundup(1949), which appeared in the 1999 movie.

Duke Caboom

Keanu Reeves, who voices Duke Caboom, returns in the latest outing. His appearance is marked when Jessie dials Woodie to seek advice on children’s usage of electronics. The character first appeared in Toy Story 4.

1999 movie cinematic parallel

This appears when Smarty Pants has a hard time trusting that Jessie remained in the same house, where Blaze now lives. She asks him if he thinks she’s lying about the facts. This is a similar scene from Toy Story 2 when she and Woody engage in a fight.

Bullseye voice

Bullseye receives a voice for the first time in the franchise. It was voiced by Alan Cumming. It happens when Blaze plays with the toys and technology.

Star Wars

During a speech from original Buzz, he states the line “search their feelings, and they’ll know it to be true”, referring to their purpose as an army. This is a quote from Star Wars said by Darth Vader.

Bad Bunny

The Puerto Rican singer voiced  Pizza With Sunglasses. He also makes an appearance during the all-toys music session on rap made by Lilypad.

Tri-County Charities Donation Center

Lilypad ends up in a donation box after failing to meet Bonnie’s expectations. The donation center is the same one where Jessie was donated in Toy Story 2.
