Cochrane’s family statement didn’t dive into the specifics on what led her to take the decision to walk away from the popular Harry Potter series. However, they wrote that it’s due to “unforeseen circumstances” that this decision has been made, according to Deadline.

Extending thanks for the opportunity and positively awaiting her next endeavors, the statement read, “Her time as part of the Harry Potter world has been truly wonderful, and she is deeply grateful to Lucy Bevan and the entire production team for creating such an unforgettable experience. Gracie is very excited about the opportunities her future holds.” Although the family didn’t reveal the exact reason, HBO also released a statement to showcase its support and respect for Cochrane’s decision.

Appreciating her work in Season 1, HBO said in the statement, “We support Gracie Cochrane and her family’s decision not to return for the next season of HBO’s Harry Potter series, and we are grateful for her work on season one of the show. We wish Gracie and her family the best.” At the time of writing, HBO hasn’t disclosed details on who they’re eyeing to replace her.

Before joining the Harry Potter universe, Cochrane did minor roles in two movies, as per her IMDb page. One is playing a young girl in the field in Blitz, the war drama movie, starring Saoirse Ronan. She’s also uncredited for a role in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Harry Potter Season 2 was renewed months before the Season 1 premiere. Release date for the same hasn’t been disclosed.
