With growing excitement surrounding the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day sequel and the next major Avengers film, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are looking forward to the franchise’s future. Several major MCU projects are currently in development for 2026 and beyond, although not all of them have confirmed release dates.

All upcoming MCU movies set to release this year or later
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
The first Marvel film on this list has already released its trailer and is set to arrive in theaters soon. The fourth installment in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man franchise will serve as a sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home while also helping set up Avengers: Doomsday. Several notable Marvel characters, including The Punisher and Hulk, are also expected to appear.

Avengers: Doomsday
The most anticipated film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in years, Avengers: Doomsday, is set to release on December 18, 2026. With a new villain (Doctor Doom) and hordes of exciting characters from the far reaches of the Marvel world, this is set to be the most exciting film since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Secret Wars
Avengers: Secret Wars will directly follow Doomsday and is set to conclude the Multiverse Saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While plot details remain under wraps, it could be an adaptation of the same storyline from the comics. Set for a December 17, 2027, release, the film will reportedly reboot the franchise.
Shang-Chi 2
There has long been speculation about a sequel to the 2021 film starring Simu Liu. Although the project was announced several years ago, development has reportedly progressed slowly. No official release date has been confirmed yet.
Untitled X-Men Movie
While MCU is bringing back the original X-Men characters in Avengers: Doomsday, there is also a plan to restart the whole franchise in the future. For this, an untitled X-Men feature has been announced, which may give a new direction to the famous franchise.
Armor Wars
Armor Wars was originally conceived as a Disney+ series. But now it seems that the concept will lead to a film. The idea of the film centers around James Rhodes, as he attempts to recover Stark tech that falls into the wrong hands.
Black Panther 3
Following the success of Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ryan Coogler is expected to return to direct a third installment in the franchise. Reports and industry speculation suggest Denzel Washington has been approached for a role. Although no official casting announcement has been made. The release date has not been confirmed, but reports suggest the film could arrive in 2028.
Blade
Another long-discussed Marvel project, Blade, is expected to reboot the franchise with Mahershala Ali in the lead role. Reports also suggest that Mia Goth may appear in the film as Lilith. More details about the project are expected in the future.
