All Major Disney Flops of 2025 Listed

With some major flops in 2025, Disney is having a tough time winning its audience over. After years of dominating the industry, it seems like the company is suffering from a rough patch. From remakes to original stories, these Disney movies have failed spectacularly due to various reasons.

Here is a list of all the Disney movies that flopped in 2025.

4 2025 Disney flops that failed to make their money back

The following movies created a lot of buzz before hitting the cinemas. Be it for the direction the story was headed or production issues, these movies failed to recover their investments.

Snow White

Global Box Office: $205.7 million

Budget: $270 million

Disney’s live-action remake of the classic Snow White turned out to be their biggest nightmare. It was one of the company’s biggest losses in recent years. The film, starring Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler, was surrounded by controversy years before the movie was even released. From Zegler’s unfavorable comments about the classic it was inspired by, to Peter Dinklage’s criticism of the portrayal of the Seven Dwarfs, it was a never-ending battle for the makers. The film even suffered from major delays, which hurt its chances further.

Captain America: Brave New World

Box Office: $415.1 million

Budget: $180 million

Captain America: Brave New World was the first movie without Chris Evans as Captain America. Without the original First Avenger, the movie failed to garner the audience’s interest. Furthermore, the movie faced a lot of production issues, which resulted in multiple reshoots and multiple writers getting involved. When the movie was released, it failed to keep its momentum. While the movie made over $400 million, it couldn’t recoup enough money to break even.

Elio

Box Office: $153.7 million

Budget: $200 million

Pixar’s original sci-fi film Elio struggled a lot with behind-the-scenes changes. The departure of original director Adrian Molina and internal debates over its themes led to significant rewrites. Despite initial positive reviews, Elio couldn’t perform well at the box office. Moreover, the release of Lilo & Stitch made it difficult for the movie to survive in cinemas.

Thunderbolts*

Box Office: $382.4 million

Budget: $180 million

The movie received good reviews from both critics and the audience, but failed financially nonetheless. The Guardians of the Galaxy-like team-up of the anti-heroes wasn’t good enough to create the excitement that Disney was hoping for. The box office numbers turned out to be way below Disney’s expectations. Many speculated that it could be because the long-time fans are losing interest, and the new movies are not able to bring in a new generation of fans.
