Alan Ritchson‘s name has come up many times in rumors surrounding a new Batman casting for James Gunn’s DCU. The Jack Reacher actor, however, recently revealed that he does not believe he will lead the DCU’s upcoming Batman movie after talking to James Gunn about the role.
But the actor added, “I do think there is something in my future with DC,” hinting that he could turn up in some other role. Here are some other DC roles that Alan Ritchson can take on in the future of the DCU.
List of DC characters Alan Ritchson could play besides Batman
Aquaman
Aquaman may be the most appropriate character for Alan Ritchson to play in the DCU, as he has already played Aquaman before in Smallville. Jason Momoa, who previously played a wilder take on the character, will transition to another role in the DCU. This leaves Aquaman’s role open, and Ritchson is particularly prepared to take on this role in the new DCU.
Shazam
With Zachary Levi unlikely to return after his unsuccessful second Shazam movie, Alan Ritchson could also take on the role of Shazam. The character would physically suit the actor and be a good fit for Ritchson’s comic timing.
Captain Atom
Ritchson could also fit into the shoes of Captain Atom, a role that will require his imposing presence and physique. As the character has a U.S. Air Force background, Ritchson’s time spent playing Jack Reacher could make him a good fit for this lesser-known role.
Hawkman
Hawgirl has already become a fan-favorite character in James Gunn’s Superman movie. Now, the DCU may introduce Hawkman, a violent, imposing character. Alan Ritchson may be the right person to take on this short-tempered hero, as this will also allow him to showcase his intense physicality.
Orion
Orion is a character who could debut in the future in the DCU, with DC Comics writer Tom King assisting in several DCU projects. If Orion does make a debut, Alan Ritchson could be a great candidate to take on the physically demanding role.
