No, Avengers: Doomsday Is Not Canceled

Several rumors online suggest that Avengers: Doomsday might get canceled, but certainly, it won’t. These speculations seem to be based on unverified news and comments from actors associated with the movie. Set to release in December 2026, the highly anticipated movie will assemble beloved heroes, pitting them against Robert Downey Jr.’s Dr. Doom. Here’s an explanation article on what is fueling these fake rumors.

Why do fans think Avengers: Doomsday is canceled?

The unfinished script, rumors of a clash between two major actors, and the production being kept secretive even from those involved have left fans wondering if the project is doomed.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at SDCC in July, Rebecca Romijn, who will reprise the role of Mystique, shared an update about the Doomsday script. She said, “The script hasn’t — they haven’t finished writing it. It’s been very, very fun, and we don’t know yet. They keep everything very close to the vest themselves in an effort to keep everything under wraps.”

Another actor, Alan Cumming, revealed that he filmed his scenes in isolation. He said, “Lots of green screen, face replacement. They even gave characters fake names. I don’t know who I was acting with half the time.” (via Gold Derby)

With the script still being written and the project kept overly secretive from those involved, rumors have begun to swirl about the project’s fate.

Fans were also worried about the project when ComicBookMovie reported that there had been a clash between two major Doomsday characters. Reportedly, the clash became so heated that “certain scenes involving their respective characters had to be altered or removed from the script entirely.”

Jeff Sneider also mentioned on The Hot Mic podcast about the “dysfunction” on the set that he has heard of. He revealed, “There’s a lot of testosterone and a lot of ego on that set. A lot of people who think they know what way is the best way. In the end, there’s only one person’s way who matters, and that’s actually Robert Downey Jr.”

While there are a lot of speculations and ongoing news, it’s to be noted that the project continues to be in production and is expected to come out on its pre-decided release date.
