Many horror fans are looking for The Conjuring: Last Rites box office predictions as the movie closes in on its nationwide release date of September 5. As the sequel to the 2021 film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, the supernatural horror film has been set up as the “finale” for many of the stories in The Conjuring Universe. Specifically, the story follows the Warrens — that’s Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) — back investigating yet another case. Given the hype, here’s how much the latest Conjuring film is expected to make at the US box office.
What is the new box office tracking for The Conjuring: Last Rites?
The most recent box office predictions for The Conjuring: Last Rites have it earning $27 million to $36 million domestically for its opening weekend from September 5 to September 7. For its full run in US theaters, it is expected to collect $61 million to $103 million.
These latest numbers come from an August 8 analysis from Box Office Theory, which mentions that it will be facing rather minimal competition on its day of release against the filmed version of Disney’s Hamilton.
An earlier report in late July says that the “finale factor” for the film “is working so far,” particularly when compared to the 2021 predecessor that came out during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. These projections can still swing one way or the other depending on buzz and critic reviews.
Looking at the fuller schedule of movie releases, the only huge movies that might compete against it in September is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, two films that are in completely different genres. It may run into some competition against Weapons, which debuts on August 8, as well as the Him, the intriguing sports horror film produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.
