Many DC fans want to know when Superman 2025 will be available for streaming, particularly its release date on HBO Max. The James Gunn-directed film released in theaters within the second week of July and is expected to remain there for a long time to give DC the greatest chance of reaching that $700 million goal at the global box office. Since Warner Bros. owns HBO Max, it is presumed that the movie will be released exclusively on the streaming platform at some point. Here’s an estimation, updated from our prior predictions, of when the Superman reboot will appear on the service.
What is the Superman 2025 HBO Max release date?
The estimated release date for Superman 2025 on HBO Max is either September 19 or September 26. Note that this is not an official release date, but we’ll be on the lookout for when Warner Bros. will announce it over the next few months.
It typically takes somewhere between 70 and 80 days for major theatrical releases to appear on HBO Max. The magical number is usually 78 days, with most movies in the US releasing on a Thursday and then eventually appearing on the streaming platform on a Friday about three months later. (A Friday release date makes sense since most viewers have a lot more spare time to watch movies on the weekend.)
This 78-day gap was the length of time that it took several movies this year, like A Minecraft Movie and Sinners, to become available on HBO Max.
That said, we’ve also had a pattern of DC films taking about 70 days to land on the platform. That’s the exact time it took for Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) to make it on HBO Max, while Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023) took 67 days and The Flash (2023) took 73 days.
Taking all of these factors in mind, this is why we’re expecting that Superman 2025 will finally pop up on the service in the second half of September.
