When Is the John Wick Hex Game Being Removed From All Platforms & Why?

Though the John Wick franchise’s style and subject make it ideal material to adapt for video game developers, the movie has only had one official adaptation: John Wick Hex. Sadly, six years after its release, this official game is being removed from all platforms this week.

Why John Wick Hex will be removed from sale on all platforms, and when

John Wick Hex is a top-down strategy game that was released in 2019. The video game is an official adaptation of John Wick and follows the titular character battling waves of hired guns, something the movies also focus on.

The video game received a fairly positive response and earned a rating of 74 on Metacritic. Despite its success and growing fanbase, the game will no longer be available to purchase after digital platforms remove it on July 17, 2025.

Publisher Big Fan Games announced, “John Wick Hex will be removed from sale on all platforms beginning July 17th, 2025. After July 17th, 2025, existing owners of John Wick Hex will still be able to access the game via their digital libraries (PC/Console) and/or physical copies (Console), however, new purchases of John Wick Hex will not be possible, regardless of platform or storefront.”

This means that those who already own the game in physical form will still be able to play it, but new players will not be able to purchase it anymore.

The developers have not confirmed why they are taking the game down. However, speculations suggest it is due to a licensing issue. This has happened with many titles over the years. Since this is an adaptation, that is the most likely cause.

It’s possible that Big Fan Games will soon release a statement or an update on the matter of the game being taken down from storefronts and elaborate on the exact cause.
