Is Robert Pattinson’s Batman in Superman?

As Superman prepares to hit theaters on July 11, fans are picking apart every clue and leak, hoping for surprise appearances. One of the biggest questions online is whether Robert Pattinson’s Batman, last seen brooding through the rain-soaked streets of Gotham in The Batman (2022), makes a cameo in the DCU’s first major reset. A viral score leak has only fueled the fire, but is there actually any crossover?

Does Robert Pattinson’s Batman have a cameo in Superman?

No, Robert Pattinson’s Batman is not in Superman.

Not as a cameo, not in a post-credits scene, and not as a passing Easter egg. Despite the noise surrounding a leaked 39-second track from the movie’s score, where fans picked up on moody, bass-heavy tones reminiscent of The Batman, there’s no multiverse sleight of hand happening here.

Director James Gunn has been very clear from the start that Pattinson’s Batman lives in an Elseworlds universe, completely separate from the continuity he’s building in the rebooted DC Universe. When asked if Pattinson would show up in the new films on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gunn has shut it down, stating, “committed to both telling stories in the DCU and telling Elseworlds stories.”

The confusion peaked after the track, allegedly from the world premiere of Superman, racked up over 12 million views on social media. Fans excitedly theorized that the score was a subtle nod to Pattinson’s Caped Crusader. But many others called it wishful thinking.

Adding to the clarity, Matt Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin recently submitted the finished script for The Batman Part II, which Gunn has publicly praised as “great.” That sequel, along with The Penguin Max series, continues Reeves’ own gritty, grounded vision, completely detached from the superhero world that Superman introduces on July 11.

It marks the first step in Gunn’s “Gods and Monsters” chapter, with David Corenswet taking flight as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as a chilling new Lex Luthor. While Batman doesn’t feature in Superman, the DCU will eventually introduce a new Bruce Wayne via The Brave and the Bold.
