Lance Riddick’s appearance in Ballerina has stirred some bittersweet emotions among fans. The popular actor tragically passed away shortly before the release of John Wick 4. Following Ballerina’s recent release, many are curious about its production timeline, and Reddick’s character, Charon, makes his final appearance.

Ballerina marks Lance Reddick’s final on-screen performance before his untimely passing on March 17, 2023. Filming of Ballerina began on November 7, 2022, when the star returned to play Charon one last time. Reddick reprised his role as the no-nonsense concierge at the New York Continental hotel under Ian McShane’s Winston.
In Ballerina, Reddick returns for a few intense scenes with the leading star Ana de Armas who plays the assassin Eve Macarro. Fans and co-stars alike have taken this opportunity to remember the beloved actor and his storied career.
“He was so sweet. He had a very calm presence. There was this softness about him that was really just very special,” says de Armas, recalling her heartfelt conversation with him about his daughter.
The movie’s director Len Wiseman remembers Reddick saying that he had “a class about him that I think comes across in his character because that’s also part of who he is.” Ian McShane also looked back fondly on his memories with Reddick saying it was “always a pleasure,” to work with him.
