Spider-Man vs. The Hulk: Who Is Stronger & Would Win in a Fight?

Wondering if Spider-Man will face off in a fight against the Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day? The upcoming MCU sequel has sparked major speculation, as insider rumors suggest Hulk will appear, possibly as a villain. With talk of a more aggressive “Savage Hulk” and several other foes rumored to join the film, the stakes for Peter Parker’s next adventure are rising fast.

Here’s what we know about Spider-Man’s powers, past clashes with Hulk, and whether he could survive a battle against the Green Goliath.

Could Spider-Man beat the Hulk in a fight with his powers?

In Marvel Comics, Spider-Man has fought the Hulk multiple times, with varying results.

One notable example is in Amazing Spider-Man #382 (1993), where Spider-Man temporarily holds off an enraged, virus-infected “Savage Hulk” using his agility, webbing, and quick thinking. In that storyline, Spider-Man ultimately gets through to Bruce Banner emotionally rather than defeating him physically, reminding him that he is not a killer and is stronger than the rage.

In terms of raw power, the Hulk significantly outmatches Spider-Man. Hulk’s strength increases with anger, allowing him to withstand extreme damage and overpower most opponents. Spider-Man’s primary advantage lies in his speed, reflexes, and intelligence. As seen in comics and animated adaptations, he has used environmental tactics, distractions, and psychological appeals to survive confrontations rather than overpower the Hulk.

In Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, the MCU introduced “Smart Hulk,” a version of Bruce Banner that showed restraint and intellect instead of raw fury. However, Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) may bring back the “Savage Hulk” persona. Insider leaks claim Hulk might appear as a villain, possibly due to a multiversal threat or a scientific accident.

Past comics reveal that when something compromises Hulk’s mind, he clashes with other heroes, including Spider-Man. In Amazing Spider-Man #381–382, a Gamma virus infects Hulk and amplifies his rage. Spider-Man stops him using scientific strategy and moral appeals instead of force. Mark Ruffalo will reportedly reprise his role, and the film may set their fight at ESU, where Banner might work as a professor.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to release on July 31, 2026. Rumored villains include Hulk, Tombstone, Scorpion, and Boomerang. While Spider-Man may not overpower Hulk physically, he has canonically outmaneuvered him before using intellect, speed, and empathy.
