Netizens had already marked Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a potential successor to Daniel Craig to play James Bond. Now, thanks to an announcement from Omega, fans seem certain that the actor will take over the role. So, is the wait finally over for the next 007?
Here’s everything we know.
Rumors of Aaron Taylor-Johnson being the new James Bond explained
On May 22, 2025, the official Instagram account of Omega, the Swiss luxury watch brand, made a joint post with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, welcoming the actor as its new brand ambassador. Since James Bond famously wears Omega, fans believe the collaboration subtly nods to Taylor-Johnson’s potential casting as the MI6 spy. However, there is still no official announcement confirming Aaron Taylor-Johnson to be the next Bond.
The Instagram post features Aaron Taylor-Johnson looking suave in a brown suede jacket, flaunting a stunning Omega piece on his left wrist. The caption reads, “OMEGA welcomes Aaron Taylor-Johnson to our watchmaking home in Bienne. The actor and Golden Globe winner stepped into our watchmaking home for an exclusive tour, meeting the watchmakers behind our timepieces.”
The Omega Seamaster debuted as James Bond’s watch of choice in the 1995 hit Goldeneye. The movie also marked Pierce Brosnan‘s introduction as 007. Since then, the stunning piece has been an iconic presence in the film series. It continued its legacy with Daniel Craig when he took over the role in 2006 in Casino Royale. Craig bid adieu to 007 in 2021 after the release of No Time to Die. The coveted role has since been waiting for another actor to step in.
The Kraven the Hunter star has weighed in on his new role, saying, “I place significant value on relationships that are genuine and built on mutual passion and respect. With that, it’s a tremendous honor to be selected as a Brand Ambassador.”
Furthermore, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been on a roll in the last few years, churning out several popular movies. Some of the recent hits he has starred in include Nosferatu, The Fall Guy, Bullet Train, and Tenet. He has also been in comic book movies such as Age of Ultron, Kick-Ass, and Kraven the Hunter. Additionally, Taylor-Johnson is all set to play Jamie in the upcoming post-apocalyptic horror flick 28 Years Later.
