Fans have begun to speculate that Lex Luthor might be the President of the U.S. after the Superman official trailer came out. Another thing that solidifies this rumor is the Lex 2000 comics, in which he delivered a successful presidential campaign. Additionally, he gained the support of many prominent characters, which helped him win the elections. With most hints already towards him being a powerful businessman, are there any chances that he could alternatively be the U.S. President? Here are the details.
Is Lex Luthor President of the US in new Superman trailer?
A particular scene from the latest trailer has made fans think that Lex Luthor could be the U.S. President. The chances of him becoming president in this movie seem low, but it could potentially set up his intentions for pursuing the role in the future.
The 3-minute trailer features Lois Lane questioning Clark Kent as Superman, about his involvement in the Boravia-Jarhanpur conflict. She further mentions that the superhero entered a country “illegally” and without any affiliation with the government’s authority, has acted as a “representative of the United States.” After hearing Lane’s questions, Superman’s anger boils. However, Lane doesn’t hold back and keeps putting her questions forward. She further asks him if he has talked with the President.
As soon as she mentions the President, the scene cuts to Lex Luthor. This has made many wonder whether he is playing the president. The chances of him pursuing this role in this movie appear slim, given that he appears to have been set up as a powerful CEO of LuthorCorp (or LexCorp) through clips. He particularly has bad blood with Superman, as he believes that he has become the center of the world’s conversation. He is furious about Superman’s existence and intends to bring him down entirely. That said, there is a possibility that the movie could set up Lex’s intentions of becoming the President of the U.S. in the future, if he’s not already presented in that role.
