The Predator: Badlands trailer dropped recently, and viewers witnessed a startling Easter egg, which might connect the movie to the Alien franchise. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the upcoming sci-fi movie features an epic team-up between an alien hunter and an unexpected ally. They embark on a quest to find an ultimate adversary. With the short clip teasing visible ties to the Alien franchise, many are curious to know if they are linked or if it was just a clever easter egg. So, here’s all you need to know.
Is Predator: Badlands connected to Alien, and how?
An Easter egg in the Predator: Badlands teaser trailer has hinted at new connections between the two franchises.
Predator: Badlands released a trailer over a minute long, which begins by showcasing a Predator’s ship with walls filled with trophies. One trophy also includes what appears to be a Harvester’s skull, a subtle nod to the Independence Day movie.
Another noticeable detail is the wall consisting of a human skull with a spine, a T-Rex skull, a Predator’s skull, and other recognizable primates. If the skull truly belongs to a Harvester, fans can expect a potential crossover.
Additionally, viewers might have also noticed character Thia (Elle Fanning), a synthetic from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. In the short clip, her eyes rolled over to reveal the logo of the Alien universe’s villainous company, which teases a link to the franchise. The eyes of the synthetic Andy also behaved the same way as Thia’s in the movie Alien: Romulus. This possibly hints at the franchise’s shared continuity.
However, it still remains unclear if these subtle references will materialize into a potential Alien vs. Predator setup or are just clever nods. Viewers will be waiting to witness how these little teases to a potential connection in the Alien franchise unfold in the movie.
Predator: Badlands is the seventh movie in the mainline series, set to release on November 7, 2025.
