Many Marvel fans are waiting for news on The Punisher Special release date and fortunately a showrunner for Daredevil: Born Again has provided a massive hint on when it’s expected to drop. It was originally announced that The Punisher special presentation on Disney+ starring Jon Bernthal, who also has his hand as a co-writer for the script, would be available in 2026. That’s quite vague, but a simple combination of facts has narrowed that release date down considerably.
When is The Punisher special presentation coming out?
It is expected that The Punisher special presentation on Disney+ will be coming out around March 2026. There’s no official release date apart from 2026 thus far, but it’s not hard to put one and one together here.
Dario Scardapane, an American television producer and showrunner for both The Punisher on Netflix and Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, revealed on Instagram that the second season of the revived Daredevil series would be March 2026. This would be more or less a year after the March 4 premiere of the show. On top of that, The Punisher special will air alongside Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter, suggesting that it will air around the same time.
That said, it’s still unclear whether The Punisher special will air before or during the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. From the events in the season one finale, let’s just say that Frank Castle has quite a lot of targets to choose from and that he will be a very important ally for Matt Murdock and Karen Page in their fight against Wilson Fisk.
Reinaldo Marcus Green will be directing and co-writing the special with Bernthal. Both worked together in the past on the 2022 HBO miniseries “We Own This City.” Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum described the special as a “shotgun blast of a story,” while Bernthal said that the story is “going to be dark” and he promises that it “will not be Punisher-lite.”
