With Sentry poised to make his live-action MCU debut in Thunderbolts*, which is inching closer to its release date, fans are debating over whether the character is stronger than the Avengers, or vice-versa. Many are also wondering if the Avengers can beat Sentry in his regular and Void forms.
So who would win a Sentry vs. Avengers, or Void vs. Avengers fight? Here is the hypothetical battle, explored.
Is the Sentry stronger than the Avengers?
Sentry is stronger than the Avengers, even though the team has powerhouses like Thor, Captain Marvel, and Hulk in their ranks.
Sentry not only has superhuman strength, speed, and flight, powers that will allow him to go toe-to-toe with the likes of the aforementioned heroes, but he can also manipulate shadows and turn people into them. Moreover, Val mentions in a trailer for Thunderbolts* that Sentry is stronger than all the Avengers combined.
Furthermore, Sentry’s power levels surpass that of the Avengers and their individual heroes in the comics. His power is described as that of a “million exploding suns.” In addition to the aforementioned powers, he also possesses invulnerability, enhanced senses, and energy-projection.
Additionally, he also has psionic powers, whose potential remains untapped. These powers are capable of rendering Hulk, regarded as one of Earth’s strongest heroes, weak, even at his angriest state.
However, Sentry does have a major weakness the Avengers can exploit, his mental state. If his mental state deteriorates, his powers become weaker, allowing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to defeat him.
Could the Avengers beat the Sentry and his Void form?
The prime versions of the Avengers from Avengers: Endgame and pre-Endgame Hulk are capable of beating Sentry when combining their forces together. However, they stand no chance against Void, Sentry’s alternate dark persona in an Avengers vs. Void battle.
The Void not only possesses the same powers Sentry has but is also much more stronger, in the sense that he can invade minds of other people using tendrils of darkness but also assume different shapes.
Moreover, the Void unlike Sentry has no qualms about killing and violence, which makes him a lot more dangerous. Meanwhile, the Avengers have a strict moral code and unwillingness to kill, unless absolutely necessary. This would prove to be a major disadvantage when fighting the Void.
