Why Kingpin Tried to Kill [Spoiler] in Daredevil: Born Again?

After watching Daredevil: Born Again‘s latest episode, viewers are wondering why Kingpin attempted to kill a key character.

During the first episode, Bullseye murders Matt Murdock’s best friend, Foggy Nelson, outside of Josie’s. Daredevil beats him up and throws him off a building, but he ultimately survives. In court, he is found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. However, he also had past ties with Wilson Fisk, which fueled the latter’s current motives. So, what was the reason behind Fisk attempting to eliminate Bullseye? Here are the details.

Why did Kingpin try to kill Bullseye in Daredevil: Born Again?

Kingpin, who is now the mayor of New York City, is against vigilantes. While this ideology is one of the reasons, his past with Bullseye in Netflix’s Daredevil Season 3 also influenced his decision to attempt to kill him. For those unfamiliar, in Season 3, Fisk and Poindexter had a brutal fight due to the fact that Fisk killed the love of Poindexter’s life. It led to the latter’s spine damage, for which he underwent an experimental surgery. Ultimately in Born Again, Poindexter fully took on the moniker of Bullseye.

Before becoming the vigilante villain, Poindexter was an FBI Agent who was very much aware of Fisk’s various crimes, and now, with his new identity, he had lately been unpredictable. So, Fisk believed that it was best to get rid of him as Bullseye was never going to stop coming after him for revenge.

So, Fisk eventually had Bullseye transferred to gen pop to have him die at the hands of other criminals locked in there. He believed it was the best way to take Poindexter out without raising an eyebrow. However, the latter managed to escape and attempted to kill Fisk. But Matt Murdock ultimately comes to Fisk’s rescue and takes a bullet for him.

With Bullseye’s return, one more thing becomes clear: Wilson Fisk had no hand in killing Foggy, but someone close to him did. It was his wife, Vanessa, who ordered Poindexter to target Foggy. Matt learns about Vanessa’s part in Foggy’s demise when she tells Fisk that she has something to convey when Bullseye pops up. That’s when Matt Murdock realizes Vanessa’s involvement.
