50th Anniversary Red Sonja 6-Inch Figure by Boss Fight Studios

Fans of chainmail bikinis — and we’re guessing there are many of them out there — have cause to celebrate as Red Sonja turns 50 years old. Loosely based on a swashbuckler character by Conan the Barbarian creator Robert E. Howard, she got reconceived into the Hyborian Age by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith when Conan came to Marvel Comics to give him a female counterpart. Like Conan, she was out to avenge grievous wrongs done to her and her family at a young age; unlike him, she received incredible fighting power from a goddess. On one condition: no intimacy with a man unless he can defeat her in a fair fight.

Red Head Redemption

Brigitte Nielsen played her onscreen in the ’80s, and several abandoned attempts to do another movie have fallen by the wayside, but that hasn’t stopped Boss Fight Studio from creating a deluxe action figure with three alternate heads, two alternate gauntlet styles and multiple hands and weapons. She utilizes Boss Fight Studio‘s Epic H.A.C.K.S. system of interchangeable parts in a 6-inch scale and can swap out parts with other figures made in that style.

Preorders go for $49.99, which is basically a dollar for every year of her existence. Orders don’t start being fulfilled until around this time next year, which will technically mark her 51st anniversary, but a lady does not speak of her age. Per the official copy, “Red Sonja comes with more than 30 points or articulation to get into almost any fighting stance you can dream up! The figure includes two different sets of armor, sword, sword sheath and belt, knife and sheath, axe, stand, three pairs of hands, three heads, and two different hairstyles for your favorite Red Sonja look!”
